The Category Manager is a motivated self-starter and creative storyteller who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role will specifically support our Convenience Channel businesses (ex: 7-Eleven, Circle K, Wawa, Chevron, etc.). Previous experience with this business is strongly preferred, as is experience crafting compelling stories utilizing Numerator or other panel data sources. The Category Manager will play a critical role in new-to-world selling and the advancement of strategic category leadership initiatives. There will be opportunity for frequent cross-functional collaboration and exposure to senior leadership.

This role will report to the Director of Category Management and can either be remote or based out of our NYC headquarters.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize scanning, panel, and custom data sources to craft compelling, fact-based selling stories
  • Proactively analyze own and competitive performance to drive assortment, shelving, pricing, and merchandising initiatives
  • Collaborate with Sales counterparts to enhance retailer relationships and secure Vita Coco’s position as a best-in-class partner
  • Present findings and recommendations to retailers, distributors, and cross-functional team members
  • Maintain a natural curiosity for and become an expert in natural + functional beverage trends and strategy

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of CPG industry experience, with category management or shopper insights experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field required
  • Significant experience with scanning data sources, such as IRI, Nielsen, and/or retailer-specific data sources
  • Strong mastery of panel data sources, such as Numerator, IRI, and/or retailer-specific data sources
  • Experience with JDA or other space planning software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

This role may require up to 10% travel
